Aly Chase has worked for Paul Pierce for years, loving him from afar. He is handsome, rich, and the powerful CEO of Pierce Homes. Just when Aly has decided her love for him is futile and vows to move on, Paul begins to give Aly the attention she had always desired, forcing her to feel confused by his actions.
Then there’s Aly’s best friend, Ethan Baker. He’s sweet, handsome and charming. He is also in love with her. He’s accepted that Aly and he will only be friends, until one day Aly realizes that her feelings towards Ethan are way more.
Aly is caught in between the man she’s loved for so long and the man that has always been there for her. As her feelings are pulled and tugged in both directions, she must make a choice before her distorted life loses both of them.
Who will end up winning Aly’s heart?
Where were you born and where do you call home?
I was born in Salt Lake City, UT and still call it home.
What or who inspired you to write? And how long have you been writing?
I think I was born with the desire to write as I can’t remember a time where I didn’t want to. I don’t really have one person who inspired me but I definitely have favorite authors. Mary Higgins Clark, Kristen Hannah, and the first author I loved, Carolyn Keene.
I’ve been writing my whole life but never attempted it seriously until February 2012.
When did you first consider yourself a writer?
I think I really considered myself a writer when I finally found a book that worked, which is Distorted, So, last December.
If you gave some of your characters an opportunity to speak for themselves, what would they say?
I so want to answer this one but it will give away what happens in the book!
What does your protagonist think about you? Would he or she want to hang out with you, the author?
She loves me. She will roll her eyes at me at times but we’re buds. She definitely would want to hang out with me as I am her BFF, the girl she would look to for advice and to have fun with. Yeah, we’re good.
Which character speaks the loudest, to you? Do any of them clamour to be heard over the others?
Ethan and yes, very much.
Do your characters try to make like bunnies and create ever more convoluted plots for you? Or do you have to coax them out of your characters?
The guys definitely created more plot for me than I had intended. Aly not so much, I had a good sense of her from the beginning.
Have you based any of your characters on someone you know, or real events in your own life?
Not at all but never say never for my future books.
Do you have a specific writing style?
Not as of yet
How did you come up with the title?
I was chatting about my book with a good author friend and she said, “What about Distorted?” I knew right away that was it.
Is there a message in your novel that you want readers to grasp?
I wish I could say I have a profound one but no. I guess it is whatever the reader takes out of it.
Do you have plans for a new book? Is this book part of a series?
I do have another book coming out. It’s the guy Aly didn’t choose story. He will get his HEA and his new girl is amazing. I love writing her.
Oh, now that sounds like fun! How did you come up with the title and cover design?
I answered about the title above but I knew I wanted my main character represented on the cover. After looking at a few pictures, I knew the girl on the cover was it as soon as I saw her.
Who designed the cover of your book?
Allie Brennan from B Design. She was wonderful to work with. I highly recommend her to anyone needing a book cover designer.
Where do you see yourself in five (5) years?
Hopefully still writing and being able to travel more since my kids will all be older at that point.
If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?
New York City
Is there an Author that you would really like to meet?
Yes, several. EL Montes, Nina D’Angelo, Madeline Sheehan to name a few indie. I’d love to meet Mary Higgins Clark and be able to pick her brain and hear her words of w
Do you prefer ebooks, paperbacks or hardcover?
I prefer ebooks now because you can get them instantly but nothing will replace a paperback/hardback in my mind. Those will always be the best.
Are you a self published (Indie) Author or big trad published?
Self Published (Indie)
What can we expect from you in the future? ie More books of the same genre? Books of a different genre?
Definitely more books in the same genre but eventually I do have a dream of writing a mystery/suspense novel.
How do you market/promote your books?
I have a Facebook author page and a few groups on there that help promote. I’m brand new so I’m still learning how to do this.
What was your favourite chapter (or part) to write and why?
When Paul tells Aly he thinks she’s hot is hands down my favorite part I wrote. And the reason is because, in my mind, that is every girls dream come true to hear the hot guy they have a crush on tell them that.
What has been the toughest criticism you’ve been given as an author? What has been the best component?
The toughest criticism was when someone who read my book told me they appreciate my attempt at writing but that I can’t write.
The best component has been the absolute love and support I’ve received from wonderful friends and my family. When someone tells me they loved my book, it’s the best feeling in the world.
What do you do to unwind and relax?
I lay down and read
Have you ever read a book more than once?
Is there a particular movie that you preferred over the book version?
So far, no. I always think the book version is much better than the movie.
What book are you currently reading and in what format (ebook/ paperback/ hardcover)?
I’m beta reading for my girl Nina D’Angelo and reading Cautious by EL Montes. Both in ebook.
Are there any new Authors that have seized your interest and why?
AL Zaun because I’ve heard nothing but rave reviews about her debut and she is an amazing person. She’s one to watch.
Is there anything you would change in your last book and why?
I would add more depth to my male characters because I don’t feel I did that and it’s needed.

“You’re beautiful, you know that?” he asked.
I stopped what I was doing and looked at him. He was just sitting there, casually watching me with the sweetest look on his face. My heart lurched and I was frozen.
His brows drew together. “I mean it,” he said.
I gave him a small smile. “Thank you,” I said quietly as I got his food out of the microwave. I put it on his plate and handed him a beer from the fridge. He smiled at me as he twisted up a mouthful on his fork and dove in.
I leaned on the counter, drinking another glass of wine, and watching him eat. He popped the cap off of his beer and took a long drink. He set the bottle down with a big, “Ahh,” and gave me a silly
“Ethan, what did I do to deserve you?” I asked, suddenly very serious.
He stopped mid-chew and looked at me. “What brought that on?”
I sighed and set down my wine glass. “I don’t know. I just see you here, with me, being so cute, and I wonder. I mean, you know I’ve been in love with Paul for years, yet you never wavered, you stayed with me. And even now, when we’ve developed more to our relationship and I haven’t been able to give you any promises, you’re still here.”
He set his fork down and shoved off his stool, walking around the bar to come next to me. He grabbed my hips and pulled me to him, wrapping me in his arms. He kissed the top of my head, rubbing my back.
“Aly, you know better than that. I am here to stay, no matter what you decide. If you ultimately decide Paul is the man for you, or anyone else for that matter, I can’t say it won’t kill me, but I’ll always love you. We were friends first and we will be friends last, no matter what.”
